November 6: Extended Stay

I added five days to my stay at this hip camp in Del Rio, Tennessee to get more time with my friends and keeping up my altar from traditional Samhain, through the six-year anniversary of becoming The Witch on Wheels and yesterday’s full moon, to astrological Samhain today. The weather has improved from all the rain when I first arrived, but there’s a storm coming that could bring snow on Monday. I need to plan my route around the mountains to get to the skoolie homestead in southern Georgia, hoping to intersect with a skoolie friend traveling to northern Georgia.

I have fallen in love with this area. The mountains rising up around me bring a sense of being grounded, of endurance and renewal. There’s a creek running behind my bus that effectively prevents overthinking. It’s especially enchanting in the moonlight.

I’m going back to sit with the ancestors, eating German cookies and sipping espresso as the final course of a dinner spanning multiple days.
