February 16: Dark Moon Mumblings

The new moon in Aquarius brings out the rebel in me. And the idealism. For good measure, there’s also a solar eclipse bringing courage to embrace the new. I felt both strong and exhausted when I left Love Burn last week. I mostly observed and still got overwhelmed from the vibes. Oh, the energy was great, but it could get intense. Not only do I want to return, and dispatch for Leave No Trace again … I have an idea for doing a themed camp: Grandma’s House. We grandmothers would offer hugs, cookies warm from the oven, and instructions in some of the lost arts such as hand sewing and cursive – maybe even folding fitted sheets. And we would welcome instructions for such things as cell phone features, avoiding scams, and the current lingo. Oh, and I’d like to gather vintage items from the 1950s and ‘60s and see if youngsters can identify and use them. Based on the notes I’m making, this could turn into more work than fun.

On my way back to Vero Beach, I got to visit with a high school classmate I hadn’t seen since our 50th reunion. Our slogan senior year was “Tippecanoe and ’72.” And this year, she is 72 and I will be in six days. It is kinda like turning 64 after singing the Beatles lyrics “Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64?” from the time I was 13.

Thursday Karmalita returns to the shop that changed my oil and my battery because after hitting some unavoidable broken pavement in Miami, my steering wheel now jerks to the right when I step on the brake.

Meanwhile, I need to write more book reviews and plot my route back to Jesup, Georgia.
