March 3: Total Lunar Eclipse
This morning I got to watch the lunar eclipse with skoolie friends boondocking at the Good Earth Farm near St. Augustine, Florida.
It was only possible because I did something I’ve never done before – drive two hours south to the wrong Good Earth Farm near West Palm Beach, then turn around and drive 70 mph (I rarely drive the speed limit) for five hours (I try to keep my driving to three hours a day) on I95 (as a rule, I avoid highways), and arriving after dark (I prefer to never drive after dark). I’m just happy I didn’t let the GPS lead me to the Good Earth Farm in Texas.
It was a long day (so long, the cat paced and cried the last 45 minutes) and I was exhausted, but also exhilarated because I accomplished things I wasn’t sure I could. I credit my determination or maybe it’s stubbornness – either way, it’s one of my superpowers. It also seems to be a personality trait shared by many members on the Sicilian side of my family. Henceforth I am determined to double and triple check every location when planning a route … like the one with three stops I’ll no longer need to make as I head north to Georgia this week.
