June 12: A Stay With My Sister
My three-night stay with my sister, Barbara, and her husband, Jim, is coming to an end. My freezer is packed with four fabulous meals she made. My vase is full of flowers from the yard. And I have lots of memories preserved in photographs. There was dinner on the deck overlooking their large lawn, a trip to an art show where one of Jim’s painting of Barbara was on display, and cocktails at The Red Lion Inn. And I know my mother, who taught me to sew, and her mother, who was a seamstress, were cheering on Barbara as she hemmed her first pair of pants on mom’s beloved Singer Featherweight. I am leaving with an application to fill out for housing in the Berkshires, and some supplies for a craft project for Litha.
