August 31: The Backhoe Is Back
Today was the seventh day a crew has come to get water flowing from the well into the house where I am parked. They primed the pump, replaced it, dug up the well to find a plastic piece connecting two pipes had broken. They’ve replaced valves, tightened valves. Four times they left with the water running. Four times it stopped. The weekend was spent without running water. Today they dug up the well again. I’m not sure what they did, but they left the dirt beside the hole and parked the backhoe and the trailer next to it. The water was running tonight when I washed a few dishes. If I’m lucky, I will get a shower tomorrow. And if it’s still running on Wednesday, I’ll start making plans again for a pedicure and a visit to family. MORNING UPDATE SEPT. 1: The only water today is what’s falling from the clouds.
Meanwhile I’ve been enjoying creative time filling an order for a dozen Mabon pocket fold-ups and organizing materials to complete two dozen or more for Samhain that I hope a witch shop will want to sell. I’m also thinking ahead to Yule with more pocket fold-ups and taking a stab at drawing a simple card to send out. Rather than the wreaths I made back at the condo, I made a magickal cord for Lughnasadh and am thinking of making another for Mabon. My idea had been to hang them from the ceiling, but it quickly became a cat toy, so magnets are holding it sideways on the bus ceiling.
