August 31: Preparing to Leave

The two weeks I’ve spent with skoolie friends in Hill City are coming to an end. It’s Sunday night and I’m starting to pack for a Tuesday departure. My new route will take me to Devil’s Tower (seen in “Close Encounters”), then south to Pawnee National Grasslands and further south to Colorado Springs where I will get to see things I missed when I was there in May.

Anxiety and anger are always just below the surface, triggered daily with the political insanity here and other events around the world. The cruelty, discrimination, fear, pain, lies, and desperation are soul-crushing. I employ self-care, take my anti-depressants, seek out good news, and take what actions I can, and while I may not be thriving, I am managing to function … almost all of the time. I do spells – some with 11,000 other witches in a virtual worldwide coven – and spread as much love and healing as possible. And I try to find something to make me laugh at least once a day.

Lastly, I reviewed these two oracle decks for Pagan Pages and now they need to find a new home because I don’t have room for the decks I already own. For a donation, I will mail them. If two or more seek the same deck, my pendulum will choose.
