September 16: Proof I’m Divinely Guided

I arrived in Cheyenne WY on Sunday, only to learn both CVS and the shipping and packing company were closed. So I drove around a bit, found a park with a lake, then landed at one of the two Walmarts to stock up on a few things before spending the night in the back of the parking lot with two other campers. Last night I was in a church parking lot thanks to my Harvest Host membership. Tonight I am in a mall’s large lot, which the dude in the closest camper assured me is safe and presents no problems. I will be returning here, as I make the rounds with a other spots, attempting to hang out in the area until the end of the month so I can catch up with a friend who will be coming through.

So, last things first … this morning I went to a huge thrift store / flea market and walked around until my knees told me, “Enough already.” So I went up the street to the Diamond Horseshoe Cafe, which I learned about from a conversation with Deb, who checked me out at Walmart. I love that it serves breakfast all day because even though it was 1pm, I wanted eggs I didn’t have to cook and clean up after.

I stuck up a conversation with the owner. At one point, she commented about all my beaded bracelets. I fiddled with one and explained they were all getting loose and I needed new ones. Turns out her daughter does bead work. Before you know it, I was gathering up all my jewelry needing attention, and Hailey came by to collect them. Turns out she’s stepped out onto a pagan path. We talked nonstop about dozens of topics. I found out she was born two days after me, loves to dance sky clad under the moon, camps in her jeep, would like to make a vision board, and dreams of a skoolie. She left with lots of jewelry to repair, a box of charms and crystal beads from other broken bracelets to help make a magical eye glass chain or me, two oracle decks, a hag stone, and a hug.

Tomorrow we’re meeting up at the metaphysical shop in town, (foregoing Michaels in honor of Black Out The System 9/16-9/20) and, if all goes as planned, Saturday we’ll go camping in the national forest west of here. She’ll share her knowledge of the area and I’ll share a dark moon and Mabon. All because I walked into Walmart when I did, went to the checkout I did, and struck up a conversation with Deb … I don’t believe in coincidences. I was guided.

In other good news, I picked up a penny on my way to washing my hammock and sheepskin at a DIY dog grooming room inside a pet store. It took hours and my arms and shoulder were bitching. Because the blow dryer was air and not heat, the woman who had set up the sink for me offered to hang them outside in the sun for a few hours. She got a tip for that. Although a portion of the hammock was still damp, I threw down a sheet and climbed in. The sheepskin, draped over the tops of my open closet doors, finished drying out today. It’s been raining for a while and it’s chilly and damp, but I’m going to see if I can make it through the night without firing up the diesel heater.
