April 11: Preparing to Leave
Monday is my departure date. I have stays lined up for 11 of the next 15 nights taking me to Pennsylvania to see Jennifer, editor of PaganPages, then on to Connecticut to stay with family and friends. I am leaving about a week late because I had to wait for my new bank card to arrive – it was sent to the wrong address, then it turned out to be linked to the wrong account. There are still about a dozen places that need updated information.
I put it off until the last day, but I am determined pot some cuttings, take another dip in the pool, put more purple in my hair, and clear from my closet the clothes I am not wearing … except, of course, for the last four pieces of ritual garb … and a rain poncho. I am also forcing myself to donate my toaster to the woman’s shelter because I keep buying bread to put in it, and I really need stop eating bread. Actually, all grains, but bread and pasta continue to be the most difficult to quit.
Karmalita got a power wash last week. She also had three visits to diesel mechanics costing almost $500 to be sure her “coolant level low” light won’t come on again.
Sunshine got to visit twice with Air, who operates Fabucats rescue that had been his home for five years. Oh, speaking of Sunshine, last week he began returning the wire wand with the feathered teaser on the end close enough to me that if I stretched I could reach it and continue to play with him long past when I want to stop.
And stop now I must.
