May 24: Fur, Flowers, & Failures
I am curled up on the couch with quilts and the cat as rain continues a second day into a second night. That means fur in my face, but a warmth in my lap. He’s been extra cuddly, perhaps because I was off the bus for large blocks of time the past three days.
The other day I accompanied a friend on a mission to rescue flowers from dumpsters … mostly annuals, a few herbs, and some perennials that will thrive with a bit of extra care.
And I spent yesterday afternoon making a handful of keto recipes with my daughter. We ate all the kale chips and as much of the pickle chips we could get off the tin foil. The cottage cheese crackers and two types of “bread” used up a lot of eggs and cheese that would have been better scrambled together. But our time together, and the movie playing in the background, made it worth all the clean up. I need to remember that I can still have potatoes, corn, and wheat … in the form of vodka, which has no carbs.
