May 12: Our Checkups

Since arriving in Connecticut I’ve been to one birthday party with another tomorrow. I’ve had doctors appointments and next week is the and some routine tests with the eye doctor after that. So far not one copay.
Karmalita’s checkup, on the other hand, was expensive. Turns out there was a lot that needed diagnosing, removing and replacing, or flushing – including the fan and the fan clutch. If you remember, the fan was replaced in Georgia and fell off in Florida, breaking the fan clutch. But something must have been gone wrong again because I needed a new fan clutch. Seems it had to be redone because the fan stopped turning, which caused my air conditioning to stop working. She had to return for a second day, and a third appointment has been made to flush the transmission fluid. So far it’s cost more than $2,000 … or about the price of a week at a lakeside cottage in Maine I couldn’t afford. There was no saying no to keeping the bus safe, however. It’s frustrating. And depressing. And the price I pay for not knowing squat about working on anything under the hood.

This post by another witch on wheels got me to laugh. (Click on photo to read it all.) Thank you Christina Joy.
