MAy 23: On The Road Again
Karmalita Earl's overhaul was completed about 5:30 last night.
The total: $7,376.49.
I stayed the night putting everything back where it belongs, eating from the dregs of the refrigerator, and redirecting my thoughts from fear of finances to trusting the universe ... and remembering the palm reader who told me decades ago that my money line does not end before my life line. Let him be right.
I drove 100 miles through the mountains. It was beautiful and not too challenging. Other than guzzling gas faster than she used to (which I suppose could be due to the mountains, fighting the wind, etc.) and the oil sensor not reset after an oil and filter change (so it keeps saying I need to change oil soon when I had changed it 1,200 miles ago, but they had to do it again or the turbo charger warrantee would be null and void) – everything is fine. I’m back to having power up hill. (It’s the downhills that scare me more.)
The next time you take a shower, think of how good mine felt today, after 15 days of bucket baths and body wipes. Yes, Planet Fitness was a joy. I also got to the post office to mail two packages, and to a market for a small amount of food (because I'm holding the last of my food budget for Whole Foods in Colorado Springs tomorrow or Sunday). I would have stopped at a dispensary had there been one on my side of the road.
I am at a truck stop on Route 25. The big rigs all around me are running their generators, no doubt so they can run their A/C. It's 91 degrees (a one-day spike), but hotter, I think, on the pavement. I am running my A/C too, and it's not depleting my solar bank as long as the sun is out. Blessed be! It will get down to 54 tonight on this side of the Rockies. Last night, on the other side, it was 38. I had left the driver's window open by mistake, not realizing the mechanics put it down during the test drives.
I requested stays at five Harvest Host - Boondocks Welcome sites, some for two nights, taking me through to the end of the month and into Nebraska. So far, four are approved.
I had forgotten this was a holiday weekend. Maybe there won't be too many people out in the rain that's supposed to fall Sunday and Monday in Colorado Springs.
