May 24: Mountains Majesty
It's been a long day. I got woken up at 7, at 10 I drove to Colorado Springs. My first stop was the Garden of the Gods. Everyone was there and I couldn't find anywhere to park except the overflow lot, so while I saw some striking scenery, I have few photos to share. Next was the UPS office to pick up two packages, then to Whole Foods then the store to get a new phone. Leaving that parking lot, I jumped a curb and everything went flying. My induction cooktop hit the floor and shattered. The toaster also ended up on the floor, but I am not ready to plug it in and see if it, too, needs replacing. I can't find the salt grinder, stevia container, and two spice jars anywhere. (I have yet to get on my stomach on the floor and look under the couch.) Pye's water sloshed, books slid onto the floor, and clothes jumped off their hooks. There was much to clean up when I landed at the brewery for dinner and an overnight. I appreciated they had set a table set up to honor the fallen soldier, and that there were sugar-free options for the hard seltzer to wash down my loaded fries.
Now that I am back on the bus, it started to sprinkle. Tonight we are supposed to get a severe thunderstorm with hail and a slight chance of a tornado. The long-range forecast calls for thunderstorms or rain seven of the next nine days. I'm hoping all that moisture will get my three closet doors to close again. They got so dried out in the desert that they bent and twisted.
I'm going to keep this short so I can find a replacement burner and a drop-proof case for my new phone before I get into the hammock and rest my head that's aching from stress and my stuffy head (a reaction to the carb-loaded fries). I'm in the city until Monday, so I'm going to see if there's anything special scheduled I might enjoy this weekend.
