May 27: Crying Over My Computer & Update

As I write this I have spent five hours in the Apple Store diagnosing my laptop’s problem (it won’t charge … it’s more than the ports not working … it’s the motherboard) and desperately racing against time to send all 83g to the cloud before the last 11% of battery is used up. Then it’s getting traded in on a new one.

All the other things planned for today are scratched. A shower. The dispensary. Pikes Peak. Urgent care to check on the toe I stubbed three weeks ago that still hurts. It’s all too much again. I am not focusing. I just sit here shaking (from nerves and the a/c blasting cold air on my back), knowing when this is over I will be driving 90 minutes in the rain and the dark to get to where I am spending the night.

UPDATE: Now for the gratitude:

• The data transferred and I am writing this on the new MacBook that I got for the Best Buy price along with a decent amount for the trade-in.
• I left the Apple store and drove straight to my overnight at a gourmet coffeehouse. The rain was not constant, and much of the trip was on dry roads. Only the last 10 miles were in the dark dark.
• I wasn't shaky while driving, but I am again now.
• I have gained a lot of confidence in Karmalita, who is performing well.
